our new rescue pony helps disabled young people gain in confidence!

The new grey pony
'Safe-Lee's Lucky Charm', Charm for short! we took in after he had been rescued and nursed back to health, made his first appearance when a group of disabled young people from Birmingham, came to visit.
He proved to be a firm favourite!

The pony who had only been with us for a few weeks was pleased to assist the group in 'our mission' to help them learn and gain confidence, the young people learned about horses and how to communicate with them, so that they can feel more relaxed and enjoy future horse riding lessons.

Some of them were a bit nervous around the horses to begin with and gained confidence when they worked as a team! They soon learned that the horses wished them no harm and were just as curious about them.

Other members of the group were happy to handle the new pony and take him for a little walk, showing good leadership! some did this without vocal command and showed good control, others used words and asked the pony to "walk on" and to "stand".
The new pony was so relaxed and enjoyed the attention too!

The rest of the horses watched over their doors and wished to join in, it was a great  experience for all of us!

we had fun...and it was a privilege to be a part of the young peoples learning experience!
